Happy Holy Spirit Day! Sunday is the Day of Pentecost. Pentecost comes from Penta which means fifty. It’s the 50th day after Easter! Alleluia, Christ is Risen! And guess what, Pentecost is also the birthday of the church! Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit came and the church was born. Last week we made our Holy Spirit fire headbands and also dove streamers. We'll use these in the procession this Sunday.
I planned a special surprise all-ages activity for coffee hour PLUS we'll have red/fire themed food!
Little Church | May 19, 2024 | The Day of Pentecost – Come Holy Spirit
Lesson Recap: John 15 & Acts 2 – Jesus tells his friends he will send them a helper. One day, his friends are scared because Jesus was killed. They are having dinner with the doors closed tight. A big wind blows open the doors and through the windows and they suddenly feel stronger and less scared! Flames are above their heads and they go to tell everyone what happened. Even though they spoke different languages, everyone could understand the disciples!
At home (bedtime, car rides, mealtime etc.):
Pray: Loving God, Thank you for the Holy Spirit helper you sent to the friends of Jesus and to us. Thank you for the church’s birthday! Amen.
Wonder Together-
· I wonder why Jesus didn’t stay with his friends on Earth? Sometimes we might wish he did stay! I bet his friends did.
· I wonder how Jesus can be with everyone all at once? He lives in your heart and mine! He can live in every heart at the same time!
· I wonder how Jesus can do that? He gives everyone a little flame of God’s Love, the Holy Spirit!
· What do you wonder?
