Sunday, June 2 is the Second Sunday after Pentecost. We start counting our green weeks now! It's Ordinary Time, or as we call it in Little Church "The Great Green Growing Season." This is a season of learning and growing for the church all the way until the Season of Advent. The lessons and prayers for each Sunday are called "Propers" and they help us keep count. This week's readings are from Proper 4.
This week we will hear Jesus talk about the Sabbath in the Gospel of Mark. Our Deuteronomy lesson is also Sabbath themed. We'll discuss how the Sabbath is a time to draw close to God. I wonder what keeps us from our Sabbath rest?
Summer is a great time to get into some restful rhythms.

Lesson Recap: Mark 2:23-3:6 | The Pharisees told Jesus his disciples were breaking Sabbath rules. Jesus says the Sabbath is supposed to help us, not us help the Sabbath. Then, he heals a man and the Pharisees were angry.
At home (bedtime, car rides, mealtime etc.):
Pray: Loving God, thank you for the sabbath when we rest and spend time with you and each other. Be with us as we look for you in our ordinary lives this week. Amen.
Wonder Together-
· I wonder what you liked best about this story?
· I wonder why the Pharisees were so upset with Jesus for doing these things on the sabbath?
· I wonder if there are times when we rest from work to spend time with God?
· I wonder if we have ever stopped our rest or our work to help others?
· I wonder if the Sabbath is more about rules or more about relationships?
