We had so much fun with our "Christpiphany" mashup this past Sunday.
King cakes
Hidden babies
Star words
Scavenger hunt
House blessing kits
And WOW we had 19 kids at church! What a great group.
The season after Epiphany is long-ish. Lent and Easter feel a bit later this year, which gives us plenty of time to tune into what God is doing in this season. This Sunday we remember the Baptism of Jesus at church, so the kids will remember their own baptisms or look forward to being baptized.
What is Epiphany and the season after?
The Church Year is divided into two cycles of preparation, celebration, and proclamation (check out this post). So, think Advent is our time of watching and waiting for Christmas. And Christmas is a whole (shorter) season of feasting and celebrating the birth of Christ! At Epiphany, we take a cue from the Magi who show that Jesus wasn't just born for the Jews. Jesus' life is for the whole world.
Epiphany means something that was previously hidden has become known. There are many things in our lives we wish would reveal themselves! We learn from the Magi to have faith God will guide us and lead us to the next destination. Though this is another "Ordinary Time" or "Green growing season" in the church calendar, we still find ways to engage the themes.
What are some ways we can proclaim this good news?
